11 Steps to Building Your Business Credit Profile

Step 1:

First, You want to separate your personal credit profile from your business and in order to do so you must Incorporate your business or form a LLC (Limited Liability Company) for more information on incorporating your business check out one of the links below.

Step 2:

Click Here to obtain a Federal EIN (Employer Identification Number)

Step 3.

Open a Bank Account in your Business name. Make sure to keep your business funds and personal funds separate.

Step 4.
Visit Dunn & Bradstreet and apply for and DUNNS Number . This is a 9-digit number issued by Dun & Bradstreet that companies use to verify the credit history of businesses.

Step 5.
Make sure that you obtained all required business licenses, permits, etc. that are necessary in your jurisdiction.

Step 6.
Make sure your business is listed in the phone directory and the phone line is in the business name, not in your personal name.

Step 7.
Make sure the exact same business address is used for your DUNS number, the yellow pages listing and phone number as well as on business licenses.

Step 8.
Apply to at least six Net30 accounts and order products through your business bank account.
What you are trying to accomplish is a 80 Paydex Score. This process can take up to 60 days depending on when you make you purchases.

Once you have at least three Net30 accounts reporting to Dunn and Bradstreet. Next you want to obtain 3 major business credit cards.

Step 10.

At this time you would have establish at 8-9 trade account for your business credit profile what you want to do is write a business plan. Determine what your future earning would be for the next 5 years. Be realistic. Then begin applying for larger lines of credit. This process will take 3-4 weeks.

Step 11.

And finally you would be able apply for lines of credit and credit card with limits anywhere from $25,000 - $50,000 which would be obtain in 3-6 months.
